The junior professorship advances an understanding of the ways in which societal transformation shapes, and is shaped by psychology. Your research is informed by broader theoretical and empirical debates in the field of psychology—particularly in the field of Social Psychology, as well as in General Psychology or Health Psychology. Your research meets the highest standards for empirical studies, diligently follows the Open Science Movement for replicable, robust findings, and bridges research themes around different societal transformation with psychological science. Specific research topics revolve around psychology and, for instance, responsible management, work, health, emotions, politics, consumer behavior, sports, sustainability, diversity, and societal interventions. You research, for instance, nudging and norm interventions or social comparison processes, social cognition, and social emotions in the primary field of Social Psychology. In the area of Health and General Psychology, relevant research could focus on preventive health behavior, health interventions, cognitive comparison processes, cognition and heuristics, or psycho-physiological foundations of behavior.
Your research topics should link to the School of Management’s mission and complement existing research by contributing a novel psychological perspective on responsible and sustainable transformation processes in the 21st century – preferably in the profile areas responsible, sustainability management and digital transformation.
In teaching, the incoming Professor for Psychology, in particular Societal Transformation will teach in modules of the fitting minor program “Psychology and Society”— for instance, An Introduction to Psychology and Society, Empirical Research Project, or Applications of Psychology in Society. In the Major Psychology, the incoming Professor is invited to contribute to the Inferential Statistics or General Psychology 2 modules.

For this position, we are seeking a committed early-stage researcher who shows excellence in teaching and research. You share the idea of the university as an educational community. As a scholar with a willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration at the School of Management and Technology and beyond, you will participate in PhD education, engage in the Open Science Movement as a role model, and make contributions to the university as a whole. You seek to extend your vibrant (inter-)national network and to further develop your research program that is already internationally visible. This is demonstrated by at least 5-7 publications (including the Ph.D. phase) – preferably in prestigious, highly-ranked, peer-reviewed journals. You have at least one of your articles published as a first author. At least 1 article should be published/accepted in a leading journal (ABDC ranking: A/A* or AJG: 4/4*).Preferably, you have initial experience with or participation in research grant applications (ideally DFG), as well as contributions to leading national and international scientific associations and conferences (APS, AOM, DGPs, EAWOP, ESCON, EASP, SPPS). You can document prior teaching experiences in seminars, and ideally also lectures, in the subject areas of this junior professorship. You have supervised theses on B.Sc. and M.Sc. levels and preferably co-supervised a Ph.D. student.
You have an excellent command of the English language. Ideally, you have a track record of teaching classes in English. If you do not speak German, you are willing to learn it within a reasonable period. Beyond research and teaching, you should strive to inspire and educate students as well as non-academics to make a sustainable impact on people, organizations, and society.
According to § 30 NHG, formal requirements are a university degree in a discipline relevant to the open position; your aptitude for teaching; and your ability to engage in independent academic research as demonstrated by the outstanding quality of your dissertation.
The junior professorship will be filled in accordance with pay grade W1 and is initially limited to a period of three years. The position will be extended for an additional three years, subject to a positive academic evaluation (in accordance with the guidelines for the mid-term evaluation of junior professors of Leuphana University of Lüneburg).
