Tēnei tūranga - About the Role:
Kiritaki Centricity and Innovation Principal Advisors work with the Head of Kiritaki Centricity and Innovation, the Kiritaki Understanding and Engagement Lead, and across the Ministry to support MBIE in becoming a truly customer centric organisation.
In addition to the capabilities detailed in the Position Description for Kiritaki Centricity and Innovation Advisors and Senior Advisors, in this role, you will:
- Apply advanced system, strategic and critical thinking, clear and logical reasoning, and sound judgement to analyse issues.
- Take a leadership role in cross-MBIE projects.
- Effectively influence through engagement and communication to senior stakeholders.
This work will be underpinned by Te Whāinga Amorangi – Transformational Leadership, and support MBIE to be able to build strong partnerships with Māori to ensure that the Te Ao Māori is reflected in the customer-centric delivery approach. The work will also be guided by MBIE’s customer promise (‘Our Promise’) and aligns with Te Ara Amiorangi, Our Path, Our Direction – MBIE’s organisational strategy.
The responsibilities of these positions are expected to evolve over time as the programme of work progresses.

Skills and Experience Required
- Demonstrated competence working and leading in an ambiguous and flexible environment, reporting through a matrix model.
- Able to design and drive outcomes based on sound customer insight and data.
- Able to work with internal and external customers and external partners to design, deliver and integrate solutions.
- Strong expertise in developing, using and coaching others to use a range of approaches to maintain a customer first approach.
- Demonstrates expertise in public speaking and storytelling.
- Expert in design, facilitation and adaption of workshops.
- Able to quickly establish and build strong working relationships.
- Able to lead across groups and influence decision makers where this is no direct reporting relationship.
- Able to manage external relationships and influence within the organisation to deliver outcomes.
- Confident to use the right information and insights in the right context, at the right level and pace; making effective decisions considering impacts and independencies.
- Able to motivate and empower people to deliver, adapting style and approach across multiple types of leadership (people, thought, strategic, technical).
- A high level of experience working in a strategic role and a proven track record in leading work programmes, balancing strategic and operational needs.
- Able to maintain an end-to-end customer journey across all work activities.
